2007-2008  Les Palmes Scholarship

Fr. John son Vil, who is the director of Fr. Jean Bruny College in Les Palmes, Haiti and Fr. Laguerre have been in touch with us for information regarding our commitment to the teacher salaries fund and our scholarship program..  They are trying to prepare for the new school year.  There are over 250 students in the school and 52 are in dire need of support for education.  They are children with higher grade levels and who show up for school.

It is $150 a year to sponsor a student and this pays for tuition and fees.  The balance provides for the student to receive uniforms, shoes and supplies such as notebook, etc. This also provides for state exams that they must go to the city to take. You will receive initial letter with photo and receive correspondence after the exam has been taken.

The need to respond is huge. Without education they will not progress and they have great hope in their children.  Fr. John son has also told us that the school is going well and they are being talked about in the nearest city and in Port Au Prince.

Last year we sponsored 40 students.  So far we have only 26 committed to sponsor.

Please consider this wonderful opportunity to help the children of Les Palmes.  How much would you spend on a dinner out?  If you return soda cans and bottles for a year? These are some ways to save that $100.

The bible says, “To those who are given much, much is expected.”

You may place into the basket in an envelope marked Haiti Scholarship or Les Palmes Scholarship.
